Oh, The Places I’ll Make Sure I Go
Today, May 11th 2020, I was supposed to get on a flight to impulsively spend 7 nights in Phuket, Thailand on a yoga retreat.
Instead, I will be impulsively trying on every single article of clothing I own, just because there is nothing better to do.
I was supposed to finish the school semester, hop on a plane, go on this retreat, and come back with all the answers.
Instead, I have been left with constant over thinking, worry, and self-doubt. Once this all lifts, I’m nervous that my opportunities to travel won’t remain the same.
However, for the time being, I felt the need to distract myself from all the places I could have gone to. So I decided to make a little list of the places I could go to once this literal nightmare is over.

- Alaska
Alaska has been one of those places that I’ve always wanted to go to. My itinerary here would be to see as much nature as possible. I’m interested in seeing the Denali National Park, the northern lights, Fairbanks, staying in a lodge, and going off-road camping would be a dream.

- Colorado
Again, just somewhere that I’ve always found gorgeous. I would love to spend some time in Denver, and see the national parks. It would be so cool to hike the Rocky Mountain National Park, and Breckenridge looks so beautiful too.

- Hawaii
Of course I want to travel to Hawaii, who friggin’ doesn’t? Honolulu, Maui, Diamond Head, Hana Highway, Rainbow Falls… Ok I’ll stop here. Clearly, I want to do literally everything possible in Hawaii… Guess I’ll just have to spend a month there.

- Yellowstone National Park
There is so much to see in this one area. Wyoming is such a random place that I can’t help but find it way too fascinating. The highlights for me to see would be the geysers, Yellowstone Lake, Electric Peak, Hayden Valley, Morning Glory Pool, and another place that adds on to the dramatic list of all my “must sees”.

- Thailand
Anddd it’s back on the list. So close, yet so far. My plan for Thailand was a seven day yoga retreat at Cece’s Hideaway. My best friend did this exact retreat, and loved every second of it, so I would definitely still like to do this.

- Grand Canyon
I’ve been so close to booking this trip two times, so maybe third times the charm? Just another national park I’ve been dying to see. Sedona, which is known for its strong spiritual vortexes, is two hours from the Grand Canyon. I’ve heard people say that they’ve felt a “lift” just from visiting the town, so I am definitely eager to experience that for myself.
I have just realized how big of a mistake making this list was. I almost hit the “book now” button one too many times.
Thinking about these trips, and the thought of planning them excites me. Especially in times like these, having something to look forward to feels good.
I hope you have enjoyed fantasizing with me.
If you have ever been to any of these places, share your experience with me!

Welcome to my blog! I am a 21 year old college student who was forced to write a personal story back when I was in a communications class. Little did I know I would fall in love with the idea of being able to share my travel adventures, hacks and my personal experiences. That is how this all started. I have big plans, and no plan at the same time. So, stick around :)

I love your bucket list! Sorry to hear your trip to Thailand was cancelled 🙈🙈🙈We were supposed to be in Scotland right now, visiting friends and exploring the Isle of Skye. Needless to say we are not there due to the coronavirus and travel restrictions. Have to make my own bucket list for when we are allowed to go to places. Thanks for sharing and inspiring 😀 Aiva

Good list. I posted my own travel bucket list recently. Been to Grand Canyon (unbelievable and worth the trip), Alaska (on a cruise, which I think is the best way to go), and Colorado (lived there part-time for work and explored the mountain towns nearby which are great).
